The temples of Luxor, with their towering columns and intricate hieroglyphs, are testaments to the grandeur of the pharaohs, while the Valley of the Kings holds the tombs of rulers who shaped Egypt’s mighty empire. Along the Nile River, travelers can cruise through history, witnessing the landscapes that have inspired stories and legends for thousands of years.
After 20 years of anticipation, The Grand Egyptian Museum is finally opening on Thursday, July 3. Visitors will now be able to view all 100,000 artifacts, including the complete Tutankhamun collection of about 5,400 pieces. While Tutankhamun’s mummy remains in Luxor, his funerary mask and a few key items will stay at the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir until the grand opening.
The museum’s exhibits highlight kingship, society, and beliefs, offering a deeper understanding of ancient Egypt. Visitors can also enjoy the Children’s Museum, outdoor gardens, and a vibrant commercial area with cafes and shops. The Grand Hall and Grand Staircase are already open, showcasing remarkable pieces such as the Hanging Obelisk, the colossal statue of King Ramesses II, and the Victory Column of King Merneptah.
