Day 1 Depart USA
Evening departure. Meals and refreshments served on board.

Day 2 Florence
Morning arrival into Florence's Airport. Transfer to the hotel of your choice. Balance of the day is at leisure. After unpacking, you may want to start exploring the city that is the Cradle of the Renaissance.

Day 3 Florence
Today you'll see examples of an age of unbounded creativity. Your morning tour begins at the splendid Duomo, crowned with the magnificent Brunelleschi dome, the Baptistry with its exquisite golden doors by Ghiberti, Giotto's Bell Tower, Piazza Della Signoria, the Accademia Museum, and Piazzale Michelangelo with its panoramic views of the city's domes and red-tiled roofs. This afternoon is free for personal sightseeing. (B)

Day 4 Florence
Full day for your own activities. The city is a museum in itself with endless possibilities: another view at Michelangelo's David in the Accademia, the Uffizi Gallery, or perhaps an excursion to Siena, San Gimignano, or Pisa. (B)

Day 5 Florence/Rome
This morning transfer from Florence to Rome by rail. Depart Florence and head south through the Tuscan countryside and the gentle Umbrian hills that have inspired saints, artists and admirers of beauty. On arrival in Rome, transfer to your hotel. Balance of the day is at leisure for you to get acquainted with the 'Eternal' city. (B)

Day 6 Rome
Your morning tour reveals Rome's infinite aspects and eras. See Piazza della Repubblica, with the Najads Fountain, Via Veneto (the Rodeo Drive of Rome), Palazzo Margherita (seat of the American Embassy), Aurelian Walls (3rd century A.D.), the Quirinale Palace, residence of the President of the Italian Republic, then stop by the Trevi Fountain. Also visit the Pantheon. Drive past Piazza Navona, Palace of Justice, Castel Sant' Angelo, then visit St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City. Afternoon and evening are free for independent exploration. (B)

Day 7 Rome
There's a lot to do in Rome. Join in with the cosmopolitan crowds in the sidewalk cafes of Via Veneto. This is the perfect spot to 'people watch' while enjoying a delicious cappuccino or discover some of Rome's many monuments, museums, fountains, antiques and other sites. (B)

Day 8 Rome/Pompeii/Sorrento
Morning departure by motorcoach for Sorrento. Take the 'Highway of the Sun' motorway and en route view the Abbey of Monte Cassino. Upon arrival in Naples, there will be a short tour of the city, which includes the Castel dell'Ovo, Mergellina, Plebiscito Square, the Royal Palace, the Maschio Angioino and the Port. On our way to Pompeii, a short stop will be made to visit a coral and cameo factory. Then visit the excavations of Pompeii, the famous Roman city destroyed by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 A.D. After the visit, there will be a lunch in a local restaurant. After lunch, proceed along a panoramic road to Sorrento, a romantic town of orange and olive orchards. Tonight just relax in this lovely resort town. (B,L)

Day 9 Sorrento
This is a day at leisure. You may want to enjoy an optional excursion to romantic Capri. A morning steamer whisks you across the Bay of Naples to the fabled isle. After a scenic funicular ride and a tour of the Gardens of Augustus, there's still time for stopping in Capri's Piazzetta for some leisurely refreshment or shopping before catching the steamer back to Sorrento. Day 10 Sorrento
Another day at your leisure to unwind in beautiful Sorrento. Visit the Correale Museum, noted for its collection of 17th and 18th century furniture and 'Capodimonte' china. Shop on the Corso Italia, or join the friendly locals at one of their many sidewalk cafes. (B)

Day 11 Sorrento/Naples to USA (or extend your stay)
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Naples Airport for your return flight home, arriving the same day. (B)
