Day 1 Paris Arrive in Paris and transfer (on your own) to your hotel. The day is at leisure to begin exploring this fascinating city. Day 2 Paris/Dijon Board the train from the Paris Gare de Lyon station to Dijon. Your day is at leisure to begin discovering this lovely town. Known as the City of Art and History, the center of Dijon is one of the most historic and scenic of any major French city. Much of the culture of Dijon is centered on food, so you'll enjoy sampling varieties of the Burgundy cuisine including authentic Dijon mustard in unusual flavors. Settle in for the night at your hotel in Dijon. (B) Day 3 Dijon/Beaune Your driver/guide in Dijon is a wine expert. He'll pick you up at your hotel in Dijon in a private minibus. Enjoy a private vineyard tour of the Grands Crus Cote de Nuits featuring many of the finest wines in the world: Chambertin, Clos de Vougeot, Chateau Romanee Conti and more. Delight in a private wine tasting at the winery's cellar. Proceed to Beaune and your hotel. Your afternoon is at leisure. You may consider seeing The Hospices de Beaune museum, one of the finest examples of 15th century French architecture. This evening dinner is at the Abbaye de Maizieres, an historical cellar dating back to the 12th century and located just a few steps away from your hotel. Spend the night in Beaune. (B,D) Day 4 Beaune Your morning is at leisure. You may consider visiting the former mansion of the Dukes of Burgundy which is now home to the Burgundy Wine Museum. In the afternoon, tour the Cote de Beaune and the Hautes Cotes de Beaune wine trails. Enjoy picturesque villages along the way and visit Pommard, where red wines are produced. Visit the town of Mersault where whites are produced. Mersault's white wines are among the finest white wines in France. Enjoy a tasting at a wine grower's cellar. Spend the night in Beaune. (B) Day 5 Beaune/Paris After breakfast, you'll be taken to the Beaune rail station for the train to Paris. On your last day in Paris, perhaps enjoy a panoramic view from the Eiffel Tower or Notre Dame Cathedral. Spend the night at your hotel in Paris. (B) Day 6 Paris to USA (or extend your stay) After breakfast, depart to the airport for your return flight home. (B) |
