Day 1 Athens
Local assistance at airport upon arrival. Transfer to hotel. Balance of day is at leisure.
Day 2 Athens
Morning guided tour of Athens' 5,000 year history. Drive past Hadrian's Arch, Temple of Zeus, the Panathenaic Stadium, Constitution Square, the Athens Academy, Mats Hill (famous for the sermon of St. Paul), and finally ascend to Acropolis Hill, where the Parthenon rests imposingly amid masterpieces of Athens' Golden Age including the Erectheum and the Temple of Wingless Nike. Free time to visit the Acropolis Museum. Afternoon is at leisure.
Day 3 Athens
Bus transfer to Marina Trokadero. Sail to the picturesque island of Hydra. Free time for a walk or a swim. Continue sailing for Poros and the island of Aegina. Lunch on board. At Aegina, optional bus excursion to the Temple of Afea Athena. Early evening return to Athens.
Day 4 Athens
Full day excursion to Delphi. Travel through the plain of Boeotia, past the towns of Thebes (of King Oepidus' fame) and Levadia. Short stop at Arachova (known for colorful, lamb's wool carpets). Arrive at Delphi, located on the slopes of Mount Parnassus. In antiquity, the site?s prestige extended throughout the entire known world. Here you visit the ruins of the Sanctuary of Apollo Pythios, the Treasury of the Athenians, the Stadium and the Museum, containing such masterpieces as the bronze Charioteer and the famous athlete Aghias. Lunch in Delphi. Return to Athens in the early evening.
Day 5 Athens
Morning at leisure. Afternoon excursion to Cape Sounion. Drive along the coastal road, past the beaches of Glyfada, Vouliagmeni, Varkiza (Attica?s most southern point), and Cape Sounion. Here you visit the marble pillared Temple of Poseidon, located at the peninsula's edge, on a spectacular cliff overlooking the blue Aegean Sea. Free time to walk at leisure and take photos of the stunning scenery.
Day 6 Athens
Assisted transfer to Athens airport for your flight home.
