The main entrance precedes diaphanous, friendly rooms, with wooden floors and traditional decoration for the furniture and the ornamental details. The bedrooms are comfortable and in harmony with the Parador's overall atmosphere. We strongly recommend you the 'cocido montanes', a dish of boiled white beans, vegetables, bacon and sausages. Activities nearby include bungee jumping, canoeing, canyoning, cave exploring, climbing, golf, horse riding routes, microlights, paragliding, rafting, snorkeling and 4x4 routes. Interesting visits are the town of Santillana del Mar (the entire city is worth visiting for its historic nature), Santillana Zoo (1.2 miles), the famous Altamira Caves (1.9 miles), the Cabarceno Nature Park (25 miles) and Picos de Europa natural park (44 miles). The Parador is located in Santillana del Mar's main plaza, in which the city's most characteristic buildings are also located: Torre de Don Borja, Casa del Aguila y la Parra, Torre de Merino and the Town Hall. Guests can access the Parador from the Travesia Santander-Comillas by way of a cobblestone street just under 100 metres long. Santillana is located 15 miles from Santander. The Parador is installed in the beautiful Barreda-Bracho ancestral home, in the Santillana del Mar plaza, a town declared a National Monument, whose origins date back to the 8th century.
