Sound & Light Show in Cairo

With the voice of the late Richard Burton and magnificent sound and light effects, the show

begins with a narrative by the Sphinx, who has been the guardian of the city of the dead for five

thousand years. Overseeing the building of the three pyramids, the Sphinx reflects on the

historical contributions of Thutmosis IV, Akhnaten, Nefertari and Tutankhamen. The show is

Inaugurated in 1972, the Sound and Light Show at the Temple of Karnak begins with a

historical introduction covering the birth of the great city of Thebes and the construction of

the Temple. Depicting the glorious achievement of the Pharaohs, spectators listen to the

lyrical and poetic description of artistic treasures, grand festivals, heroic deeds and

you as the Egyptian gods and goddesses are resurrected before your eyes to tell their life

stories. The myth of Isis and Osiris is told through dazzling lights and captivating music, with

sounds from the depths of ancient history. In the story, Osiris, ruler of the Underworld, is

resurrected by his beloved wife Isis, after being killed by his brother, Seth, the God of Evil in

ancient Egypt. The show is presented in English, French, Spanish, German, Italian and Arabic.
