DAY 1

Welcome to Lima and your Best of Peru adventure!

Upon arrival at the airport in Lima you will be transferred to your

hotel. Museums, archaeological sites, lush greenery and beautiful

beaches, a bustling boardwalk and lively nightlife -- come discover

the modern metropolis of Lima! A current day Latin American

culinary hub, take time to tantalize your taste-buds at one of the

many “cevicherías” or popular street food stands.

SACRED VALLEY

Transfer to the airport for

your flight to Cusco. Upon arrival, visit the Chinchero community,

featuring remains of the royal hacienda of Tupac Inca Yupanqui as

well as colonial temples. On Sundays a colorful and lively market

fascinates people with its variety of handicrafts and textiles made in

true pre-Columbian style. Transfer to “El Mirador de Racchi” for a

splendid view of the Sacred Valley. Then, enjoy lunch before returning

to your hotel. (B,L)

DAY 3

SACRED VALLEY

This morning opt for an optional tour after

breakfast. In the afternoon, tour the typical Inca community of

Ollantaytambo. Stone terraces rise from the edge of town leading up

to its fortress’ ruins at the top of the hill. A stone stairway leads up

through the terrace walls, allowing you to step out onto them. One of

the area’s best-preserved spots sits north of the Hanan Huacaypata

square featuring an area of 15 blocks of houses built on top of

carved stone walls. (B)

DAY 4

Early morning

transfer to Ollantaytambo train station. Our adventure starts on a

train ride to the city of Aguas Calientes, then it’s on to the awe-

inspiring Machu Picchu archaeological site. You will never forget this

mind-blowing journey through the history of the Inca civilization.

Explore Peru’s most important archaeological site and one of the

new Seven Wonders of the World. Return by bus and train to

Ollantaytambo station. Transfer to your hotel in Cusco. (B)

DAY 5

CUSCO

This morning, begin with a half day city tour of Cusco.

Explore the center of the Inca Empire, the Plaza de Armas and see

the cathedral built on the ruins of the ancient Inca Palace. Next, stop

at the old town with its magnificent renovated colonial buildings.

Proceed to Sacsayhuaman, a ruins site located approximately 3 km

above Cusco that boasts fabulous views over the city. Afterwards visit

the surrounding ruins. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure. (B)

DAY 6

PUNO

Your full day included bus tour from Cusco to

Puno leads through the Peruvian highland along the snow-covered

peaks of the Andes, passing small villages, and reaching its highest

point in La Raya. On route you will visit the town of Andahuaylillas, the

ruins of Racchi, and the small town of Pucara. Lunch in a typical

restaurant is included. Transfer to your hotel upon arrival in Puno,

known as the “Folklore Capital of Peru.” (B,L)

DAY 7

In the morning transfer to Puno’s dock and

depart to the Uros Islands on Titicaca Lake. The Uros are 40 small

floating islands made of packed totora (reed), located within the

Titicaca National Reserve. The Uros live just as their ancestors did,

maintaining their customs. Continue by boat to Taquile Island where

you can shop for high-quality, hand-woven items and enjoy lunch.

Transfer from the hotel to the airport for your flight to Lima and to

your hotel upon arrival. (B,L,D)

DAY 8

LIMA

In the afternoon enjoy a tour of Lima. See the Plaza de

Armas with its colonial government buildings including the Palace,

the town hall, and the cathedral. After that you will visit the beautiful

San Francisco monastery with its collection of religious art and

catacombs. Visit the districts of San Isidro and Miraflores, then head

to Rafael Larco Herrera Archaeological Museum to see the world’s

largest private collection of Peruvian pre-Columbian Art. (B)

DAY 9

After breakfast at

your hotel, transfer to the airport for your flight home, brimming with

amazing memories of your Peruvian adventure to share. (B)
