Itinerary

Day 1 - LIMA

Welcome to Peru! Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel in Lima and enjoy the remainder of your day to explore the city at your own pace. Museums, archaeological sites, lush greenery and beautiful beaches, a bustling boardwalk and lively nightlife -- come discover the modern metropolis of Lima! A true current day Latin American culinary hub, take time to tantalize your taste-buds at one of the many “cevicherías” or popular street food steak skewer stands.

Day 2 - LIMA I CUSCO I SACRED VALLEY

Embark on a city tour starting in the city’s old town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site packed with fascinating historic buildings in Spanish architectural style. See Lima’s Cathedral; the Casa Aliaga colonial mansion; Larco Museum that features a pre-Hispanic collection of objects and is situated on a pyramid from the VII century; and "Love Park" in the scenic coastal district of Miraflores. Later, fly to Cusco and transfer to your hotel in Sacred Valley. (B)

Day 3 - SACRED VALLEY I PISAC I OLLANTAYTAMBO

Start your day at Pisac market, featuring alpaca textiles, musical instruments, paintings, carvings, necklaces, and replicas of old Inca pieces. Next, explore the Pisac archaeological site showcasing the largest complex of terraces, an agricultural masterpiece of the Inca Empire. After an included lunch, visit Ollantaytambo, one of the most remarkable complexes of the Inca Empire and a typical example of Inca urban planning. Overnight in Sacred Valley. (B,L)

Day 4 - SACRED VALLEY I MACHU PICCHU I CUSCO

A once-in-alifetime experience awaits you today in Machu Picchu, Peru’s most important archaeological site and one of the new Seven Wonders of the World. Take the train to Aguas Calientes. Then it’s on to the Inca ruins of Machu Picchu, a masterpiece of engineering and architecture situated on a mountain ridge nearly 8,000 feet above sea level that served as a sanctuary and retreat for the Inca Pachacutec. Return to Aguas Calientes for lunch and then back to Cusco. (B,L)

Day 5 - CUSCO

Start today’s Cusco city tour visiting the Coricancha or "The Temple of the Sun" that was once covered in gold. Visit the Cathedral in the Plaza de Armas. Continue on to the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, where during the winter solstice, the Inca feast of IntiRaymi is recreated each year. Next visit the archeological complex of Quenqo. Then see the PukaPucara or "Red Fortress," an architectural complex of alleged military use. The rest of the day is yours to explore at leisure. (B)

Day 6 - CUSCO I LA PAZ I HUATAJATA (LAKE TITICACA)

After breakfast, head to the airport and depart from Peru to Bolivia’s La Paz. Upon arrival, transfer to Huatajata, situated on the shores of Lake Titicaca. Consider participating in an optional tour that takes you to cruise Lake Titicaca, sailing among canals brimming with totora-reed to reach the Floating Islands & Sustainable Project. Take in breathtaking views of the Andes’ Royal Range before returning for an overnight stay at Inca Utama Hotel & Cultural Complex. (B)

Day 7 - HUATAJATA (LAKE TITICACA) I MOON & SUN ISLAND I LA PAZ

In the morning transfer to Cocotoni and take a Hydrofoil cruise on Lake Titicaca to Sun Island. Climb the Inca “Grand Stairs” and taste water of the Sacred Fountain, believed to give eternal youth and happiness. Savor lunch at Uma Kollu archaeological Restaurant. Continue to Moon Island and the Sun Virgins Temple “Iñak Uyu.” Board the Hydrofoil towards Copacabana, visiting the shrine and the Dark Indian Virgin. Overnight at your selected hotel in La Paz. Day 8 - LA PAZ

Enjoy La Paz on your own or participate in an optional excursion. By day you can opt for a half day tour to the Archaeological site of Tiwanaku. Discover Tiwanaku (1.580 BC-1.000 AD), the magnificent ruins of Bolivia and one of the oldest civilizations in the Americas. In the afternoon a half day city tour of La Paz and Moon Valley is offered showcasing pre-Hispanic times with all their traditions and magic rites. Overnight at your selected hotel in La Paz. (B)

Day 9 - LA PAZ TO USA (OR EXTEND YOUR STAY)

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and transfer to the La Paz airport for your flight home. (B)
