The wonders of the pyramids and ancient Egyptian gods await when you book your Egypt Renaissance9 day escorted Discover Egypt travel vacation. Your adventure begins in Egypt's cosmopolitan capital, Cairo, where Nile-side hotels and sidewalk cafes sit aside outdoor bazaars with Egyptian treasures. Your vacation then moves to the Nile River for a 3 night cruise, or an optional quick flight to Abu Simbel to tour the Temples of Ramses II and Nefertiti before the cruise departs. As you sail down the mighty Nile you will visit Giza's Great Pyramid and the Sphinx, the temples of Kom-Ombo and of Edfu and even sail to Luxor to see the Valley of the Kings. Egypt's great wealth and relics from the gods stand tall in the surrounding desert. Day 1 - Sun Cairo

Arrive in the Land of the Pharaohs. At Cairo International Airport you will be welcomed and assisted through immigration and customs by our representative, then escorted to your hotel. In the evening, enjoy a sound and light show at the Pyramids.

Day 2 - Mon Cairo

Visit the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities which includes the world's largest collection of Pharaonic artifacts and the treasures of Tutankhamen's tomb. Drive to Old Cairo to visit Al Moallaka Church (Hanging Church) and Ben Ezra Synagogue. In the afternoon, visit the Great Pyramids of Giza and the enigmatic Sphinx, then proceed to Khan El Khalili, the world's largest 13th century covered oriental bazaar. (B, L)

Day 3 - Tue Cairo/Abu Simbel/Aswan

Transfer to Cairo International Airport for your flight to Abu Simbel via Aswan; visit the Great Temple of Ramses II and the temple of his beloved queen, Nefertari. After visiting this magnificent site, transfer to the airport for your flight back to Aswan. Once there, your representative will assist and transfer you to your Nile River Cruise. After lunch, enjoy a felucca ride around Kitchener's Island Botanical Garden and the Aga Khan Mausoleum. (B, L, D)

Day 4 - Wed Aswan/Kom Ombo/Edfu

Visit the High Dam, the Granite Quarries with the Unfinished Obelisk, and the Temple of Isis at Philae. Sail towards Kom Ombo during lunch. Upon arrival, visit the Ptolemaic Temple of Sobek and Haroeries. Continue sailing toward Edfu. Enjoy afternoon high tea and the captian's welcome cocktail party in the evening. (B, L, D)

Day 5 - Thu Edfu/Luxor

Visit the Temple of Horus, the falcon god. Dating from 237 B.C., it is considered the best-preserved temple in Egypt and the second largest after the Temple of Karnak. Sail towards Esna, passing through the Esna Lock. In the afternoon, as you sail towards Luxor, take high tea. (B, L D)

Day 6 - Fri Luxor

Visit the West Bank, including the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir El Bahari, and the Colossi of Memnon. In the afternoon, see the temples of Karnak and Luxor, a centuries old city of pylons, hypostyle halls, colossal statues, shrines, and obelisks. (B, L, D)
