Description
Sestriere, magnificent setting on a sunny hill of the West Alps, was created from nothing between 1928 and 1932 and was conceived solely for skiing. The downhill runs on three separate slopes starting from 2823 m (9260 ft), having a total length of 120 Km (74 miles). Worthy of mention are the "Direttissima", the "Kandahar Slalom" and the "Kandahar Banchetta", which were designed for international competitions. The network is part of the Via Lattea complex, which links various Piedmont resorts with total pistes length of 400 Km (248 miles), high enough to satisfy the most demanding skiers. 450 snow machines cover about 60 Km (37 miles) of pistes with artificial snow. |
