Day 1 Thu Depart USA Overnight flight to Madrid, Spain. Day 2 Fri Madrid Upon arrival, you'll be met by your Central Holidays representative and taken to your hotel. In the afternoon, your guide will meet you at your hotel for an evening tour of illuminated Madrid. Your tour will take you through the bustling streets of the old city ending at the historical Plaza Mayor where you will enjoy a 'Tapas' Dinner at a local restaurant. (D) Day 3 Sat Madrid After breakfast, spend the morning on an escorted sightseeing motorcoach tour of Madrid. Highlights include the magnificent fountains of Neptune and Cibeles, the Alcala Gate, the Plaza de Espana and Plaza de Oriente. In the afternoon, you are free to visit one of Madrid's recognized museums along the 'Golden Art Triangle'. Shop the sophisticated boutiques of the Salamanca district, sample tapas at a cafe in the trendy Chueca Neighborhood or take advantage of an optional tour to the former capital city of Toledo. (B) Day 4 Sun Madrid/Lisbon After breakfast, your tour director will meet you and welcome you aboard your motorcoach for departure to Lisbon. Upon arrival you are free to enjoy the Portuguese capital city at your own pace. (B) Day 5 Mon Lisbon Today enjoy a full day excursion, beginning with the medieval town of Obidos for a visit to the city center. Afterwards, continue towards the fishing village of Nazare, famous for traditional costumes still worn today. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in the lovely seaside town before continuing to Batalha where your tour highlights include a visit to the 14th century Monastery. Continue on with a tour of Fatima, where apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary took place. Free time is provided for your own personal discovery of the area before returning to the hotel for overnight in Lisbon. (B,L) Day 6 Tue Lisbon Today your day begins with a tour of Lisbon, capital city of Portugal. Highlights include the Jeronimos Monastery (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), Belem Tower and the Monument of Discoveries, one of Lisbon's most famous sights. In the evening, enjoy dinner at a local Portuguese restaurant where you will enjoy a 'Fado' folklore show before returning to your hotel for your overnight accommodation. (B,D) Day 7 Wed Lisbon/Albufeira After breakfast, depart towards Portugal's southern Algarve region. Today's highlights include an excursion to the charming fishing village of Portimao, surrounded by beautiful beaches and famous shops along the Praia da Rocha. Enjoy a bit of free time along the cozy harbor or stop at one of the boulevard shops. Afterwards continue towards Albufeira for dinner at your hotel and overnight accommodation. (B,D) Day 8 Thu Albufeira Catch up on postcards, browse local boutiques, stroll along the beaches, try one of the many restaurants, or simply relax and take in your surroundings. Your day is free for you to enjoy at your own pace. Dinner is at your hotel. (B,D) Day 9 Fri Albufeira Today enjoy a full day of sightseeing in the Algarve. Your day begins with a tour of Silves, once capital of the region. Continue towards Monchique where rustic cobbled stoned streets are lined with various local artesian shops. Highlights include a 16th century Parish church with fine samples of Manueline craftsmanship and a 17th century Franciscan monastery featuring panoramic views of the countryside. Afterwards, return to your hotel for dinner at your hotel and overnight accommodation. (B,D) Day 10 Sat Albufeira/Seville After breakfast, depart towards Seville, Spain. Upon arrival your guided tour of the romantic city will highlight the Cathedral, which stands as the world's largest Gothic edifice. Continue with a stop for some photos of La Giralda before strolling through the narrow lanes of Seville's delightful Santa Cruz district, a former Jewish Quarter. Afterwards, continue to your hotel for dinner and overnight accommodation. (B,D) Day 11 Sun Seville Spend your day getting better acquainted with this romantic city at your own pace. Stroll the streets that created a perfect setting for operas like Carmen, Don Juan and Figaro, take a carriage ride to Maria Luisa Park or shop at one of the many flamenco shops in town. In the evening, meet your local guide. You'll be taken to a local restaurant for a typical dinner featuring a Flamenco show before returning to your hotel for your overnight accommodation. (B,D) Day 12 Mon Seville/Gibraltar/Costa del Sol After breakfast, the highlighted tour will be a visit to Gibraltar where you can enjoy a sightseeing excursion including a visit to the Saint Michael caves, a natural grotto currently open to visitors. Afterwards, continue towards Costa del Sol for a relaxed evening at leisure. (B) Day 13 Tue Costa del Sol Catch up on postcards, browse the trendy boutiques, stroll along the Mediterranean beaches, try one of the many restaurants, or simply relax and take in your surroundings. You may consider taking an optional tour to the Moroccan city of Tangier, where you can visit the colorful Grand Socco market, enjoy views of the Spanish coastline and take pictures of the sultan's palace. (B) Day 14 Wed Costa del Sol to USA (or extend your stay) After breakfast, you'll be transferred to the airport for your return flight to the US. (B) |
