Day 1 Depart USA Overnight flight to Madrid. Day 2 Madrid Morning arrival into Madrid Airport where you will be met by your local representative and transferred to your hotel. You are free to relax for the remainder of the day. In the afternoon, you may want to take in one of Madrid's three internationally recognized museums. Day 3 Madrid Enjoy a unique view of Madrid, the capital of Spain, in the company of an expert guide. Highlights of your walking tour include the Plaza Mayor featuring a tapas (canapes) lunch at a local cafe and a walk along the famous Gran Via. Afterwards, return to your hotel or continue enjoying the city at leisure. In the evening, enjoy dinner at a restaurant and a cooking demonstration featuring local cuisine. Afterwards, return to your hotel on your own or enjoy the endless nightlife of Madrid at leisure. (B,L,D) Day 4 Madrid This morning your tour will feature the monuments of Madrid. Highlights include the Cibeles Fountain and Puerta de Alcala before continuing your tour with a visit to the Thyssen Bornemisza Gallery and internationally recognized Prado Museum. In the evening, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant featuring a lively flamenco show. Afterwards, you have the choice of returning to the hotel or stopping at a local spot to take in Madrid's endless nightlife. (B,D) Day 5 Madrid/Barcelona After breakfast, you will be transferred to the train station where you will depart for the picturesque Mediterranean city of Barcelona by the AVE high-speed train. In the afternoon, enjoy this picturesque city at your leisure. In the evening, visit the Olympic Port area before stopping at a local restaurant for dinner featuring typical flavors of this Mediterranean coastal region. Afterwards, you are free to make your way back to the hotel or enjoy Barcelona's spectacular nightlife. (B,D) Day 6 Barcelona Today your tour will highlight the art and architectural marvels of masters including Dali, Gaudi and Miro with visits of Passeig de Gracia, the Gothic District and Sagrada Familia and Cathedral. Dinner this evening is with a view of Tibidado Mountain as you enjoy your food accompanied by exquisite Spanish Penedes wines and a cooking demonstration of traditional local cuisine. (B,D) Day 7 Barcelona Today travel just outside of Barcelona to the Penedes wine region. You'll visit the delightful Codorniu Cava Winery, a vineyard by a wine-producing family that dates back to the 16th century. Delight your senses at a private cava tasting of some of the vineyard's best sparkling wines before returning to Barcelona. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner at a local restaurant. Afterwards, make your way back to the hotel or enjoy Barcelona's nightlife at your own pace. (B,D) Day 8 Barcelona to USA (or extend your stay) After breakfast, you will be met and taken to the airport for your flight to the USA, arriving the same day. (B) |
