It's hard to say what you'll find most breathtaking about the eternal city, the Vatican, the Forum, Colosseum, or the Roman Cappuccino "al fresco". The grandiose thrill of feeling centuries of turbulent history under your feet is what make "Rome at Leisure" the perfect Independent Italian Tour. A half day guided city tour is offered (described in your itinerary) in the package, but the remainder of the time you will be free to explore Rome at you Leisure. Rome is one of the most beautiful and historic cities in the world. You can go back in time and imagine what it must have been like to live in ancient times just by exploring the Roman ruins for a day.

Day 1 Depart USA

Evening departure. Meals and refreshments served on board.



Day 2 Rome

Morning arrival into Rome's Leonardo da Vinci Airport. Transfer on your own to the hotel of your choice. Balance of the day is at leisure. After unpacking, you may want to sample your first, but not your last, Roman cappuccino 'al fresco.' No matter what you need or decide to do, your Central Holidays local representative will give you invaluable assistance.



Day 3 Rome

Your morning tour reveals Rome's infinite aspects and eras. Drive through Via Cavour and see Piazza della Repubblica with Najads Fountain. Continue on Via Bissolati and Via Veneto (the 'Rodeo Drive' of Rome) and see Palazzo Margherita (seat of the American Embassy), Aurelian Walls (3rd century A.D.), and Piazza Barberini. Pass by the Quirinale Palace, residence of the President of the Italian Republic and then see the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon. Drive past Piazza Navona, Palace of Justice, Castel Sant' Angelo, Via della Conciliazione, then visit St. Peter's Basilicain Vatican City. Afternoon and evening are free for independent exploration.



Day 4 Rome

Today you may want to enjoy an optional excursion to Pompeii, Capri and idyllic Sorrento with their beautiful panoramic views of Mount Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples.



Day 5 Rome to USA (or extend your stay)

After breakfast at your hotel, transfer on your own to Rome's Leonardo da Vinci Airport to board your return flight to the USA, arriving the same day.
