Day 1 Tue Depart USA Overnight flight to Rome. Meals and refreshments served on board. Day 2 Wed Rome Morning arrival in Rome's Leonardo da Vinci Airport where your Central Holidays tour host will meet and assist you with transfer to your hotel. Afternoon and balance of day at leisure. Day 3 Thu Rome Your morning tour reveals Rome's infinite glory and eras. Drive through Piazza della Repubblica and admire its Najads Fountain. Continue on Via Bissolati and Via Veneto (the Rodeo Drive of Rome) and see Palazzo Margherita (seat of the American Embassy), Aurelian Walls (3rd century A.D.), and Piazza Barberini. Pass by the Quirinale Palace, residence of the President of the Italian Republic, then stop at the Trevi Fountain and visit the Pantheon. Drive past Piazza Navona, Palace of Justice, Castel Sant' Angelo, Via della Conciliazione, then visit St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City. Afternoon and evening are free for independent exploration. (B) Day 4 Fri Rome Today you may want to enjoy an optional excursion to Pompeii, Capri and idyllic Sorrento with their beautiful panoramic views of Mount Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples. (B) Day 5 Sat Rome/Athens Transfer to the airport in Rome for your flight to Athens. Upon arrival your local Central Holidays host will assist you with transfer to your selected hotel. Balance of afternoon and evening at leisure. (B) Day 6 Sun Athens Half-day morning city tour includes highlights of Athens and the Acropolis plus the new Acropolis Museum. Afternoon and balance of day at leisure. (B) Day 7 Mon Piraeus/Mykonos After breakfast, you transfer to the port of Piraeus and embark your cruise ship. Sail to the picturesque isle of Mykonos, known for its windmills and lively harbor. Sail in the evening. (B,L,D) Day 8 Tue Kusadasi/Patmos Morning arrival in Kusadasi, Turkey, located nearby Ephesus, one of the 'Seven Wonders of the Ancient World'. Wander through the famous Turkish bazaar or enjoy an optional tour of Ephesus. This afternoon sail to Patmos, site of the Monastery of St. John the Divine and the Grotto of the Apocalypse. Optional excursion to visit these sites is available. Evening departure for Rhodes. (B,L,D) Day 9 Wed Rhodes A day on the Island of Roses, famed for its Medieval Old Town, great shopping and ancient site of the Colossus of Rhodes. Visit the Temple of Athena on the majestic Acropolis of Lindos, overlooking the Bay of Paul (optional) or visit the Valley of Butterflies on your own. Sail in the evening. (B,L,D) Day 10 Thu Heraklion/Santorini Morning call at Greece's largest island, Crete. Visit Knossos and the Palace of King Minos (optional). Later you sail for the volcanic island of Santorini. Some of the villages are perched on the rim of the volcano and believed by many to be the site of the Lost Continent of Atlantis. View a breathtaking sunset before you sail later this evening. (B,L,D) Day 11 Fri Cruise/Piraeus/USA (or extend your stay) Disembark in Piraeus this morning and transfer to Athens Airport for your return flight to the USA, arriving the same day. (B) |
