We spend three nights in Athens to immerse ourselves in the storied past that generated many of the concepts and ideals we hold dear today. Democracy, philosophy, architecture, geometry, history, theater and  beauty, all symbolized by the Acropolis and the Parthenon. You wil also enjoy discovering Plaka district's labyrinthine streets for a night of fun and merriment. Spectacular Santorini, however, is the featured island. Many believe Santorini to be the site of legendary Atlantis, first mentioned in Plato's dialogues Timaeus and Critias, as sinking into the ocean "in a single day and night of misfortune". Be overwhelmed by the island's dramatic landscapes of steep coastline and vast beaches as well as by Fira, an attractive little town with winding narrow streets and arcades. You may even climb to the island's highest peak to see Prophet Elijah's Monastery, or visit the village of Oia, which is built on the caldera rim. The village is an excellent example of Cycladic architecture. Explore Oia by walking along the cobble-stone streets, the white washed houses with blue shutters and enjoy incomparable views out to sea and marvelous sunsets. In Santorini you may also cruise around the active crater of Nea Kameni islet and even have time to swim in the warm waters heated by Hot Springs on the sea floor.
