The museum here is home to the world's only comprehensive collection of Minoan artifacts.  Beyond that, the town has magnificent fortified walls and several structures attesting the time of Venetians' power. Steeped in Homeric history and culture one is spoiled by its wealth of myths and legends, dramatic landscapes, stunning mountain ranges and the most hospitable inhabitants.
