Itinerary 2010|
Day 1 Depart USA Evening departure. Meals and refreshments served on board. Day 2 Venice Morning arrival into Venice Airport where you will be transferred to your hotel. The balance of day is at leisure. You may want to explore the city of the lagoon, known as the Queen of Cities, because of its magical tapestry of Renaissance buildings perched on narrow canals, where sleek gondolas glide silently beneath ornate bridges. Re-discover romance in a gondola or take a 'vaporetto' ride on the Grand Lagoon and mingle with the Venetians. Day 3 Venice The included morning walking city tour features visits to the golden Basilica of St. Mark and the Doge's Palace decorated by 16th century artists such as Titian and Tintoretto. Also view the Bridge of Sighs and Piombi Prison. Remainder of the day is free. (B) Day 4 Venice Another full day at leisure to wander about. Venice's size can be comfortably covered on foot to reach museums, churches, palaces and characteristic 'sestieri' (wards). If you prefer the water, there are the villas along the Brenta River or the famous lagoon islands of Murano (glass works), Burano (embroidered lace) and Torcello (beautiful Byzantine cathedral). (B) Day 5 Venice/Paris Transfer to Venice Airport for your flight to Paris' Charles de Gaulle Airport where you will be transferred to your selected hotel. After check-in at the hotel, the balance of the day is free to begin exploring Paris, the magnificent capital of France. Paris remains, in spite of all the clichs, one of the most inspiring cities in the world. Paris is packed with cultural monuments, old and new. And even when you've viewed the city's magnificent sights, you'll find an unlimited supply of culture, art, nightlife, eateries and chic shopping experiences. (B) Day 6 Paris Your included morning city tour features the Arc de Triomphe, Opera House, Madeleine, Louvre Museum, Champs-Elysses, and Notre Dame Cathedral. For the balance of the day, there are optional Seine cruises with Bateaux Parisiens. Or for a panoramic view, you may also take an elevator to the third floor of the Eiffel Tower. There is so much to see and do in Paris, a city so aptly called the City of Lights, where exciting evening outings are a must. (B) Day 7 Paris Paris has plenty of important sites to be seen, as well as some of the lesser known places like the Rodin museum, tucked away on a small side street near the Invalides, or the Muse de la Vie Romantique. You will also have enough time to venture out to the surrounding areas. A metro pass for zone 1-5 will get you to Versailles to visit the fabulous palace there, or take a guided tour to a number of cities including Chartres to visit its famous gothic cathedral. (B) Day 8 Paris to USA (or extend your stay) Transfer from your hotel to Paris' Charles De Gaulle Airport for your return flight home. Meals and refreshments served on board. Same day arrival into USA. (B) |
