Historic Turkey, the Aegean and Athens is a great vacation getaway featuring 2 nights in Istanbul, 1 in Canakkale, 2 in Kusadasi, a 3-night Aegean cruise, and 2 nights in Athens. Fly into Istanbul, your home for 2 nights. On the second day, discover Istanbul in depth. See the beautifully preserved remains of the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires; explore the Hippodrome, ancient site of chariot races; the magnificent Blue Mosque and the glorious St. Sophia Museum. Afterwards, visit the lavish Topkapi Palace and end your day at the colorful Grand Bazaar. The following day travel along the Dardanelles, visiting en route Gallipoli, on your way to Canakkale. Next day visit Troy, site of Homer’s great epic the Iliad, and Pergamum, famous across the Ancient world as a great cultural and religious center and end the day in Kusadasi. Your tour continues to the famous ruins of Ephesus, among the best preserved archeological sites in the world. Visit the house of Virgin Mary, where it is believed that she lived the final years of her life. An afternoon optional tour of Sardis or Sirince is available. Next morning begin a 3-day cruise to Patmos, Rhodes, Heraklion and Santorini. All ports of call offer optional tours and free time on your own. The cruise ends at Piraeus, Athens’ port site. Ageless Athens, the cradle of democracy and the birthplace of Western Civilization, is revealed through a city tour featuring the House of Parliament and Memorial to the Unknown Soldier. Hadrian’s Arch, the Temple of Olympian Zeus (known as the Olympieion), the Panathinaikon Stadium and the Parthenon atop the Acropolis.

Evening departure. Meals and refreshments served on board.

Day 2 Thu Istanbul
Morning arrival into Istanbul Airport where you will be met and transferred to your hotel by your local Central Holidays representative. Balance of the day is at leisure.

Day 3 Fri Istanbul
Today discover Istanbul with beautifully preserved Sights dating to the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires. Start by visiting the Hippodrome, the magnificent Blue Mosque and then on to the glorious St. Sophia Basilica. In the afternoon visit the lavish Topkapi Palace and end your day in the colorful Grand Bazaar. (B)

Day 4 Sat Gallipoli/Dardanelles/Canakkale
Morning departure for Gallipoli and visit Anzac Cove Lone pine cemetery, Chunuk Bair, Gabatepe War Museum. Continue across the Dardanelles to Canakkale for dinner at your hotel and overnight. (B,D)

Day 5 Sun Troy/Pergamum/Kusadasi
After breakfast at your Hotel, visit Troy, site of Homer's great epic the Iliad, with its famous wooden horse. Visit Pergamum, a city famous across the Ancient world as a great cultural and religious center. Continue on to Kusadasi for dinner and overnight at your hotel. (B,D)

Day 6 Mon Ephesus & St. Mary's House/Kusadasi
Tour the famous ruins of Ephesus, one of the best preserved archeological sites on Earth. During the period of the Roman Empire, Ephessus was a very important city, second only to Rome. Continue to the house of Virgin Mary, where it is believed that she lived the final years of her life. This afternoon an optional tour of Sardis or Sirince is available (Sardis and Ephessus, are among the seven churches founded by the Apostle Paul during his time in this area). Dinner and overnight at your hotel. (B,D)

Day 7 Tue Kusadasi/Cruise/Patmos
Morning transfer to the pier to board your cruise ship sailing to Patmos where you arrive in the early afternoon. Here is where St. John the Divine received The Revelation as found in the Last Book of the New Testament. Optional excursion is available to the Monastery and The Grotto of the Apocalypse. Sail in the evening for the island of Rhodes. (B,L,D)

Day 8 Wed Rhodes
A day on the Island of Roses, famed for its Medieval Old Town, great shopping and ancient site of the Colossus of Rhodes. Visit the Temple of Athena on the majestic Acropolis of Lindos, overlooking the Bay of Paul (optional) or visit the Valley of Butterflies on your own. Sail in the evening. (B,L,D)

Day 9 Thu Heraklion/Santorini
Morning call at Greece's largest island, Crete. Visit Knossos and the Palace of King Minos (optional). Later you sail for the volcanic island of Santorini. Optional donkey ride or take a cable car to the village perched on the rim of the volcano and believed by many to be the site of the Lost Continent of Atlantis. View a breathtaking sunset before you sail later this evening. (B,L,D)

Day 10 Fri Cruise/Piraeus/Athens
Early morning arrival in Piraeus. Disembark from your cruise ship and transfer to your hotel. Athens is the capital of Greece, the cradle of democracy and the birthplace of Western Civilization, where the ancient and the new co-exist seamlessly. Balance of the day is at leisure. Your Central Holidays representative will assist in getting you started in local explorations. (B)

Day 11 Sat Athens
Half-day morning city tour includes highlights of Athens and the Acropolis plus the new Acropolis Museum. Afternoon and balance of day at leisure. (B)

Day 12 Sun Athens/USA (or extend your stay)
Morning transfer to Athens Airport for your return flight to the USA, arriving the same day. (B)
