Day 1/Sun Depart USA Depart for Malaga, Spain. Day 2/Mon Costa del Sol Arrive at Malaga Airport where you will be met and taken to your hotel. You'll have the day at leisure. In the evening, meet your host and traveling companions and enjoy a welcome dinner at a lively restaurant in the Costa del Sol. Day 3/Tue Costa del Sol Today is at leisure to explore and enjoy this wonderful area of the Andalucia region. You may consider an optional excursion to the Mediterranean port city of Malaga, birthplace of Pablo Picasso. Your visit of this seaside gem city includes the magnificent Baroque Cathedral and the Gibralfaro Castle. In addition, the narrated walk leads to the ruins of the Roman theatre, the Plaza del Obispo, City Hall, the Courthouse and the Alcazaba Palace. This optional excursion includes entry to the Picasso Museum, which is one of only three museums in the world dedicated exclusively to the artist. In the evening, enjoy dinner with your traveling companions at a lively restaurant. Day 5/Thu Granada Your day begins with a step back into the rich history of Granada as you visit its main attraction, the fabulous Alhambra Palace, widely regarded as being one of the 10 architectural wonders of the world. Both graceful and mighty, this citadel is laced in stone and is surrounded by gardens and fountains. Your tour includes ample time to walk through the beautiful grounds of Generalife and view the palace of Charles V before returning to your hotel. Day 6/Fri Granada/Cordoba/Seville After a short drive, your day begins in the captivating city of Cordoba where you will enjoy a guided tour of this UNESCO World Heritage Historic Center. Visit the Aljama 8th century Mosque combining Islamic, Baroque and Gothic design and internationally recognized as an architectural treasure. Afterwards, stroll along Cordoba's Jewish quarter before continuing on to Seville. Day 7/Sat Seville This morning, your day begins with a guided tour of the romantic city of Seville in the company of your very experienced local guide. Highlights include a visit to the Cathedral, considered the world's largest Gothic edifice. Afterwards, stop for some photos of La Giralda tower before strolling through the narrow lanes of Seville's delightful Santa Cruz, a former Jewish Quarter. Day 8/Sun Seville/Ronda/Costa del Sol Depart Seville for a short drive to the city of Ronda, which sits on a large rock outcropping at the edge of a canyon. Famous for its dramatic river gorge views, your visit includes one of the city's treasures, the Museum of Bullfighting and Bullring. Visit the oldest bullring in Spain and shop for local handicrafts before continuing the scenic mountain drive along the Costa del Sol. Settle in at your hotel in the fabled resort of Torremolinos. Day 9/Mon Costa del Sol to USA (or extend your stay) After breakfast, bid farewell to your fellow travelers. You'll be taken to the airport for your flight to the USA, arriving the same day. |
