Day 1 Athens / Olympia (Or Patras) Drive by the coastal road t the Corinth Canal (short stop). Resume travel and then visit the Theatre of Epidaurus, famous for its remarkable acoustics. Continue driving to the town of Nauplion (short stop) and proceed to Mycenae, where you will see the Lion's Gate, and visit the Archaeological Site and the Tomb of Agamemnon. After this important visit we travel to Olympia via the Central Peloponnese and the towns of Tripolis and Megalopolis. Dinner and overnight in Olympia. (D) Day 2 Olympia (Or Patras) / Delphi In Olympia, the cradle of the Olympic Games, you will visit the Archaeological Site, with the Sanctuary of Olympian Zeus, the Ancient Stadium and the Archaeological Museum. At completion of this visit, drive through the plains of Eliad and Achaia to the magnificent bridge, which crosses the Corinthian Bay, from Rion to Antirion. Pass by the picturesque towns of Nafpactos (Lepanto) and Itea, arriving in Delphi in time for dinner and overnight. (B,D) Day 3 Delphi / Kalambaka Morning visit of the Archaeological Site and the Museum with the famed bronze the "Charioteer". Depart for Kalambaka, a small town situated at the foot of the astonishing complex of Meteora's gigantic rocks. Dinner and overnight. (B,D) Day 4 Kalambaka / Meteora / Athens Visit Meteora, perched atop gigantic rocks, as if suspended in mid-air between the earth and the sky. A striking scenery. Visit the ancient Monasteries, where you can see exquisite specimens of Byzantine art. Return to Athens via Trikala, Lamia, Thermopylae (visit Leonida's Monument). Arrival in Greece's capital in the early evening. (B) |
