Visitors arrive up a leafy driveway shaded by trees and flanked by gardens comprising sweeping lawns, hedges and rolling hillocks. The hotel s low ceilinged lobby has a rustic farmhouse feel with red ceramic floor tiles, and prints of Tuscan landscapes on the walls. Couples and families relax on sofas and armchairs dotted around the reception area sipping drinks and planning their day s sightseeing. During the warmer months, the sun terrace area opens where guests can recline under umbrellas on sun loungers sipping a cocktail from the bar or enjoying a grilled snack from the barbecue. Live music also features over the summer and picnics can be enjoyed on the grassy hillocks. A 10 minute walk through century old olive trees, across the scenic and windswept hills of Florence, takes guests to the Certosa Monastery. Entrance is free and tours are conducted by Cistercian Monks. After the tour, visitors are free to walk around outside the convent and in the cloisters and visit the pharmacy where excellent liquors, honey, and natural medicines are sold.
