Gothic walls, plateresque tomb and baroque facade are inserted into an interior with soft, red and green coloured shades, adorned with Spanish wood in furniture and beams. It also features a peaceful garden. A good number of trips and activities related to adventure sports can be organized from the Parador. The comforting Aragonese cooking allows you to sample Alcaniz style eggs, 'ternasco asado' (roast young lamb) and typical sweets of Alma and almond tarts. Activities nearby include bungee jumping, canoeing, cultural visits, ecological routes, mountaineering, nature routes, paragliding, rowing, swimming, windsurfing and 4x4 routes. The Parador is located at the top of the Cerro Pui-Pinos, at the foot of which extends a city of squares with porticos and narrow streets with balconies, maintaining its medieval charms. Alcaniz is located 65 miles from Zaragoza along the main N-232 road towards Madrid, and 40 miles from Morella, on the road to Castellon de La Plana. Built on the hill top called the Cumbre de Cerro Pui-Pinos, this 12th-13th century castle-convent became the seat of the Order of Calatrava in 1179. Dominating the landscape of the Maestrazgo, it conserves the keep, the bell tower-sacristy and the part reconverted into an 18th c. Aragonese palace.
