Arrival in Lima and transfer to your hotel.

Start the day with a visit to one of Lima’s emblematic markets, featuring fish, fruit, and vegetables used in Peruvian cookery. Afterwards, a chef will teach you how to make an exquisite “cebiche” or the famous lomo saltado (sautéed tenderloin strips and french fries). A delicious lunch will round out this delectable culinary experience. Tonight, enjoy a Lima-style pub crawl to three traditional downtown bars and taverns (one cocktail included per bar). (B,L)

Tour Lima’s historic center lined with colonial mansions and Moorish balconies. Stop in Plaza Mayor, seat of the Government Palace, the Archbishop's Palace, and City Hall. Visit Santo Domingo Convent and the Archbishop’s Palace. Our last stop is the Larco Museum, a private collection showcasing treasures covering more than 5,000 years of Peruvian history. Head to a 5-star local restaurant (cost of lunch not included). You will also have time to visit Indian Market, where you can acquire excellent Peruvian ceramics, textiles and other handicrafts. Early transfer to Lima airport to board our flight to Cusco. Upon arrival in Cusco, depart on a tour of the Sacred Valley. Stop at Awana Kancha, a farm with typical animals of the region: alpacas, llamas, guanacos, and vicunas. Learn how the indigenous people use plants and natural elements in making wool. Visit Pisac Inca site in the Urubamba Valley and Ollantaytambo, an Incan military, religious, and agricultural center. Lunch is included. (B,L)

Early morning transfer to Ollantaytambo train station. Our adventure starts on a train ride to the city of Aguas Calientes, then it’s on to aweinspiring Machu Picchu archaeological site. You will never forget this mind-blowing journey through the history of the Inca civilization. Explore Peru’s most important archaeological site and one of the new Seven Wonders of the World. Later, we descend to Aguas Calientes for lunch at a local restaurant. (B,L,D)

Explore Machu Pichu at your own pace, with round trip bus ride and tickets to the Citadel, as well as lunch at a local restaurant in Aguas Calientes. Delve into the Inca ruins, a masterpiece of engineering and architecture situated on a mountain ridge nearly 8,000 feet above sea level that served as a sanctuary and retreat for the Inca Pachacutec. In the afternoon return by scenic Vistadome train. Private transfer to your hotel. (B,L)

At the MAP’S (Pre-Colombian Art Museum) Restaurant, enjoy an in-kitchen demonstration of Andean style dishes, followed by a delicious lunch. Then, explore Cusco starting at Koricancha Temple, an ancient Inca worship center of the Sun God that was once covered in gold. See Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral, and the church of San Cristóbal. Head to Sacsayhuaman, then Qenqo with its stone labyrinth and sacrificial alter, and Puca Pucara, a marvel of rooms, waterways and aqueducts. (B,L)
