Day 1 - MON I BALTRA AIRPORT I SANTA CRUZ ISLAND
Welcome to
the Galapagos Islands! Arrive at Baltra Island and take a bus to the
Itabaca Canal where you head by ferry for the other side of the Island
to Santa Cruz. With altitudes reaching 864 meters, this island
comprises all plant zones, ranging from coast to pampas. Take pictures
of the Twin Craters, formed as a result of the collapse of the crust into
the crater. Enjoy lunch in a typical hacienda then check-in to your hotel
and continue directly to the Charles Darwin Station. (L)
Day 2 - TUE I SEYMOUR NORTH OR SOUTH PLAZAS OR BARTHOLOMEW ISLAND OR SANTA FE ISLAND OR DRAGON HILL
On a full day boat excursion, visit one of these islands: North Seymour,
a flat island uplifted from the sea by underground seismic activity;
South Plazas, boasting Galapaganean flora such as the towering cacti
"trees;” Bartholomew, known for its Pinnacle Rock; Santa Fe, one of the
oldest islands of the archipelago that features many endemic animals;
or Dragon Hill, named for the various colonies of land iguanas that
inhabit the island. Lunch on board. (B,L)
Day 3 - WED I SANTA CRUZ ISLAND I FLOREANA ISLAND
After
breakfast you will be transferred on a speed boat to Floreana Island
(approx. 2,5 hours). Enjoy lunch at the Hotel Wittmer. In the afternoon,
visit “Loberia”, a small peninsula that features colonies of sea lions.
The rest of the afternoon you are free to relax and bask in the glittering
sun at one of the two beaches near the hotel. Tonight, enjoy dinner and
an overnight stay at your selected hotel on Floreana Island. (B,L,D)
Day 4 - THU I FLOREANA ISLAND I ISABELA ISLAND
Hike across the
stunning highlands of Floreana Island. Later see the area’s pirate
caves. Cruise along to Isabela Island, comprised of six shield volcanoes
that have merged into a single land mass and boasts the highest point
of the islands. Have lunch at the hotel before visiting “Las Tintoreras.”
See white-tipped reef sharks resting in a lava canal. Throughout the
day’s journey, catch glimpses of wildlife as marine iguanas, sea lions,
penguins and blue-footed boobies. (B,L)
Day 5 - FRI I ISABELA ISLAND
Today we visit the Sierra Negra volcano.
Transfer by bus and hike to the border of the crater from where you can
enjoy a spectacular view, and, on clear days, see to Fernandina Island.
Savor lunch at a hacienda in the highlands before visiting Galapagos
National Park’s Giant Tortoise Breeding Center. Later see the Laguna
of the Flamingos, then head back to Puerto Villamil for late afternoon
beach time. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at your Isabela Island
hotel. (B,L,D)
Day 6 - SAT I ISABELA ISLAND I BALTRA ISLAND I FLIGHT BACK TO THE MAINLAND
After breakfast, the speed boat takes you to Puerto
Ayora on Santa Cruz Island from where you will be transferred by bus
to Itabaca Channel. From here you will be accompanied by ferry and
bus to the Baltra airport to take the flight to Guayaquil or Quito for your
international flight home. Opt to extend your stay upon request. (B)
