A diverse line-up of sights waits including the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Carcassonne's medieval Citadel, a town within a town, turreted thick wall ramparts and a maze of narrow cobbled streets bustling with life. See Louis XIV marble quarry, used in the Versailles Palace. This France tour package allows you to walk Montauban's historical center, the city of pink bricks and in Cahors see Pont Valentre (also known as the Devil's Bridge) a fortified work of art with three towers. Itinerary

Day 1 - TOULOUSE I CARCASSONNE

Arrive at Toulouse Airport and transfer to Carcassonne, where there will be a guided tour of the Medieval Citadel, a UNESCO Heritage Site. Discover this bustling town within a town with its maze of narrow cobble-stone streets and turreted thick wall ramparts. Check in at your hotel. Before dinner at the hotel, enjoy a wine tasting led by a sommelier. Overnight in Carcassonne. (D)

Day 2 - CARCASSONNE I PENNAUTIER I MINERVOIS REGION I CARCASSONNE

Depart for Château Auzias in Pennautier for a visit of the vineyards and wine tasting. Suggested lunch at the Chais du Château Pennautier with a visit to its wine cellars. Continue to the Louis XIV marble quarry (used in the Versailles Palace) and then travel on through Minervois vineyards to Domaine Ostal Cazes for a visit and a wine tasting experience. Return to Carcassonne for a gourmet dinner at a traditional restaurant. Overnight in Carcassonne. (B,D)

Day 3 - CARCASSONNE I MONTAUBAN I CAHORS I SAINT BEAUZEIL

Travel to Montauban, the city of pink bricks. Walk through its historical center and then head to Cahors, where you will see the famous Pont Valentré, a fortified work of art with three towers. Enjoy lunch on your own. In the afternoon, visit Cahors vineyards and enjoy a wine tasting at Chateau Lagrazette. Transfer to Sarlat and settle into your hotel. Savor dinner at the traditional restaurant (B,D)

Day 4 - SARLAT I LASCAUX IV CAVE PAINTINGS

France vacationAfter breakfast, enjoy your morning tour of Sarlat, an exceptionally well-preserved medieval town with renowned historical monuments. Later on visit the National Prehistoric Museum which houses France’s most important Paleolithic collections including the first global set of Paleolithic art on engraved or carved blocks. See the oldest traces of life left by mankind and to understand the evolution of societies over the last 400 millennia. Tonight, enjoy dinner at the local restaurant. (B,D)

Day 5 - SAINT-EMILION I BORDEAUX

Head out to Saint Émilion today. Here, you will visit the Château Ferrand, Grand Cru Classé of Saint Émilion, and the lovely medieval town of Saint-Émilion, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a center of Bordeaux wine-making. Visit Fermingier shop and learn about the secret recipe of brightly colored macarons. Enjoy your macaron-tasting session. In the afternoon visit Chateau de Sales for wine tasting. Arrive Bordeaux and settle in at your hotel. Dinner at the local restaurant. (B,D)

Day 6 - COOKING CLASS I BORDEAUX

 France vacationsDrive to the Michelin-starred restaurant Le Saint-James for a half-day tour hands-on cooking class under the expert guidance of Head Chef Nicolas Magie and his team. Your cooking class includes introduction to snacking, oenology and gastronomic classics, where you will learn how to be a great chef at your own home. Enjoy the fruits of your work over lunch, including wine. During your afternoon city tour of Bordeaux, discover how the wine trade shaped the history of this city from Middle ages to prosperous 18th century and beyond. (B,L)

Day 7 - ARCACHON

Depart for Bassion D’Arcachon, a vast bay on the Atlantic Coast about 45 min drive from Bordeaux. Embark on a traditional boat for a cruise around the bay, learn about the iconic “cabane tchanquee” stilt houses and enjoy the spectacular views of the Ile aux Oiseaux and the Dune du Pilat – the highest dune in Europe. Savor local oysters for lunch, and spend an afternoon exploring the town of Arcechon on your own. (B,L)

Day 8 - BORDEAUX I MEDOC VINEYARDS I BORDEAUX
