To get to this fairy-tale land you pick up a Hertz car in Paris and delve into this magic world, even sleeping in chateaux. A wide line up of castles will be seen - spectacular Chateau de Chambord, a royal hunting reserve larger than Paris itself. In Chambord also visit Joan of Arc house. Continue your France vacation and visit the town of Tours, dating back to Gallo-Roman times, which was once the capital of the Kingdom of France. This tour of France will take you to the most romantic French chateau found in Chenonceau - the Ladies Castle - built by one of France's great Queens -in nearby Amboise, besides a Royal castle, you may see Clos Luce, where Leonardo da Vinci spent the last years of his life. Other notable chateaux will be in Villandry, best known for its magnificent flower and vegetable gardens - in Azay-le-Rideau - in the town of Saumur, set by the Loire River - in Angers, one of France's most beautiful cities, see Jean Lurat's dramatic tapestry "Chant du Monde". A few more gems... savor local cuisine at La Cave; an incredible restaurant located in a cave... and, in a Mont Louis cellar, attends a tasting of red, white, rose and sparkling wines... your last overnight in France at luxurious Chateau Montvillargenne in Gouvieux.


Itinerary

Day 1 - Paris/Montbazon (approx. 167 miles)

Pick up your rental car in Paris and drive to Orleans, the capital of the Loire Valley. Continue on to Chambord and visit the impressive and majestic Chateau de Chambord, one of the most spectacular chateaux of the world. Overnight in Montbazon.

Day 2 - Montbazon/Tours/Chenonceau/Montbazon (approx. 32 miles)

After breakfast, begin your day with a visit to Tours, the ancient Gallo-Roman city once capital of the Kingdom of France. After Tours, drive to the heart of the valley, along the River Cher, where you'll find the most romantic French castle, the Chateau de Chenonceau. After lunch at La Cave, a delightful restaurant located literally in a cave, continue driving to the picturesque village of Montlouis-sur-Loire.

Day 3 - Saumur

Located on the Loire River, Saumur is celebrated for its fairy-tale Chateau, cavalry school, mushrooms and sparkling wines. While in Saumur, continue to visit the various chateaux of the region and discover the beauty that surrounds you. Visit the Chateau de Villandry, best known for its magnificent flower and vegetable gardens and the Chateau d'Azay-le-Rideau, a beautiful 16th century chateau filled with period furniture.

Day 4 - Saumur

This morning start by visiting Angers, one of France's most beautiful cities. Visit the Jean Lurcat and contemporary Tapestry Museum to see the dramatic tapestry ''Chant du Monde''. Take a short stroll from the Cite to the Doutre, where you can find a lively atmosphere, or enjoy the quiet banks of the Maine. Continue on to Le Mans on the Sarthe River. After Le Mans, continue on to St. Symphorien for your overnight stay at the Chateau d'Esclimont. (B)

Day 6 - St. Symphorien/ Gouvieux-Chantilly (approx. 63 miles)
