Itinerary

Day 1 - ARUSHA

Transfer from Kilimanjaro Airport to your hotel in Arusha. Spend the balance of the day at leisure.

Day 2 - ARUSHA/LAKE MANYARA

Spend your morning at leisure and in the afternoon, depart Arusha for Lake Manyara. Pass through the Maasai Steppe with its picturesque African villages and maize, coffee, and banana plantations. At the town of Makuyuni, turn northwest and continue the journey up through a scenic ridge that leads to your lodge,perched on the edge of the Rift Valley with stunning views over distant Lake Manyara. Day 3 - LAKE MANYARA/SERENGETI

Enjoy a game drive through Lake Manyara National Park. See stunning wildlife and scenery. In the early afternoon, depart Lake Manyara and travel northwest across the highlands. Pass through wheat fields and coffee plantations, and the nenter Ngorongoro Conservation Area. From here lie the vast plains of Serengeti National Park, where wildlife is abundant. Keep your camera ready to snap pictures as your make your way into the park. (B, L, D)

Day 4 - SERENGETI

Spend the morning and afternoon on exciting gamedrives through Serengeti National Park. Meaning “endless plains” in the Maasai language, the Serengeti hosts the largest terrestrial mammalmigration in the world—from January to March, millions of wildebeests,followed by hundreds of thousands of other plains game, make the 300 mile round trip trek from Tanzania to Kenya. This great influx of preyanimal makes the Serengeti equally hospitable to a robust lion population. (B, L, D)

Day 5 - SERENGETI/NGORONGORO CRATER

Travel across the rolling plains towards the Ngorongoro Crater. Stop at Olduvai Gorge, named for the wild sisal plant, called oltupai by the Maasai people, which grows in the area. This steep ravine that separates Serengeti National Park from Ngorongoro Conservation Area has offered up fossils from 5 million years ago and it is here that Dr. Louis Leakey and his wife discovered Australopithecus Boisei, an important hominid link the development of early man. Learn about the archeological legacy of Old uvia Gorge at the museum before arriving at your lodge, set high on the rim of Ngorongoro Crater. (B, L, D)

Day 6 - NGORONGORO CRATER

A highlight awaits you this morning as you depart to explore what is commonly referred to as the world’s largest wildlife zoo. Descend through the early morning mist some 2,000 feet into the crater. Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest intact volcaniccaldera. Due to its size and diversity, the crater floor is comprised of several distinct areas, ranging from forest, swamps, lakes and springs, to open grassland and some sandy dunes. With more than 30,000 residentanimals, it is an awe-inspiring wildlife experience. After lunch at the lodge, spend the balance of the day at leisure. (B, L, D)

Day 7 - NGORONGORO CRATER/TARANGIRE

Leave the spectaculareco system of the Ngorongoro Crater behind on a drive through the highlands and the Karatu district towards Tarangire National Park. Pass through waving wheat fields and lush green coffee plantations before climbing down a ridge into the reserve. En-route to your lodge, enjoy agame drive through sweeping plains set against a backdrop of high plateaus. Spend the balance of the afternoon at leisure under the cloudless blue sky. (B, L, D)

Day 8 - TARANGIRE/ARUSHA TO USA (OR EXTEND YOUR STAY)

After breakfast, head northeast back to Arusha. Upon arrival, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport. (B)
