Day1 - LIMA
Arrive in Lima and transfer to your hotel. Afternoon is at leisure
Day2 - PUERTO MALDONADO
Private transfer to Lima airport to board your flight to Puerto Maldonado. Upon arrival, reception and shared transfer to the lodge. Spend the next three days at a luxury jungle lodge where you will enjoy the following activities: Concepcion Rainforest Trails, Twilight Canoe Cruise on Madre de Dios River, Lake Sandoval hike to see parrots, macaws and giant otters, Inkaterra Canopy Walkway over 7 treetop bridges & Anaconda Walk over wetlands, Hidden Rainforest, nocturnal fauna experience, and Visit the Butterfly House, a butterfly and rainforest conservation project. Day3 - PUERTO MALDONADO
Private transfer to Lima airport to board your flight to Puerto Maldonado. Upon arrival, reception and shared transfer to the lodge. Day 4 - PUERTO MALDONADO I SACRED VALLEY
Shared transfer to Puerto Maldonado airport to board your flight to Cusco. Arrival in Cusco, transfer to your hotel in the Sacred Valley. Remainder of the day at leisure. (B)
Day5 - SACRED VALLEY
We start our full-day tour driving the scenic route to the Urubamba Valley, the "Sacred Valley of the Incas.” En route, we stop at the textile center of Awana Kancha to discover beautiful South American camelids, guanacos, llamas, vicuña and alpacas, the backbone of traditional Andean weaving culture. Next we head to Pisac, home of the famous market where local people have gathered for centuries to sell their crafts. The Incas won a major victory over the Conquistadors. A delicious lunch will be served at a local restaurant. (B, L)
Day 6 - SACRED VALLEY
Spend part of the day at the town of Chinchero, a small village in the Andes overlooking the Sacred Valley, with mesmerizing views of the Cordillera Vilcabamba and the snow-capped peak of Salkantay. Here, traditional Andean weaving techniques have endured for centuries. Colorfully garbed craftspeople from around the region gather in the lively central market to sell their creations. Nearby lies the town of Maras, our next stop, where more than 500 amazing salt flats built by the Incas continue to yield the finest quality salt. We then travel to Moray and tour the enormous circular and semi-circular agricultural terraces built atop the hill overlooking the Urubamba Valley, used by the Incas as a botanical laboratory. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. (B, L)
Day7 - SACRED VALLEY I MACHU PICCHU I CUSCO
Your adventure starts with a beautiful train ride to Aguas Calientes. Disembark and board a bus to the Machu Picchu archaeological site. This comprehensive tour will be an unforgettable experience through the history of the Inca civilization. Here you will understand why Machu Picchu was chosen a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site and one of the New 7 Wonders of the World! You will also have free time to explore the site on your own, relax, or meditate. Later, descend to Aguas Calientes for lunch at a local restaurant. Then take the train back to the Sacred Valley, followed by a transfer to Cusco. (B, L)
Day 8 - CUSCO
Morning at leisure. In the afternoon, get to know the city of Cusco, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. The tour begins at the Koricancha Temple, an Inca palace and main center for the worship of the sun god, Inti. Your next destination is the Main Square, followed by Sacsayhuaman Fortress, built of mass stone blocks expertly shaped by the Incas, strategically located atop a hill overlooking Cusco. Finally you will visit Inka’s Expression, a workshop that showcases artists working in silver and painting on wood – a wonderful place to appreciate Andean art. (B)
Day9 - CUSCO I PUNO
This morning, transfer to the bus station to board your bus to Puno. You depart Cusco for a full day comfortable bus ride to Puno, with fantastic scenery and several stops on the way. First you will visit the small town of Andahuaylillas. Here we visit the magnificent Jesuit church of San Pedro Apostol, built between 1570 and 1620. The church is also known as the "Sistine Chapel of the Andes" due to the stunning mural paintings. The last stop before Puno will be La Raya. Located at the border of Cusco and Puno, at an altitude of almost 13000 feet, La Raya provides majestic views of the Andes’ snowcapped mountains. In a couple of hours you will be in Puno. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. (B, L)
Day 10 - PUNO
This morning brings an early departure to Taquile Island, 12,000 feet above sea level. The ancient culture here dates back to Pre- Incan times. The islanders still live according to ancestral traditions and beliefs and are famed for their lovely outfits and wonderful textiles. Here you visit the community of Huayllano, where the Taquileños will show you around and exhibit their artistic crafts. After a nice box lunch, sail over to the famous Uros Islands, man-made floating islands in the middle of the Lake Titicaca National Reserve. The floating islands are protected within the Bay of Puno and are home to close to 2000 people, who are believed to have "black blood" that protects them from the cold. After this fascinating tour, we return to your hotel in Puno. (B, L)
Day11 - PUNO I JULIACA I LIMA
Transfer to Juliaca airport to board your flight to Lima. Upon arrival, depart for your panoramic tour of Lima, Perus modern capital that was the City of Kings for the Spanish conquistadors. Our first stop is at the historic Plaza Mayor, home of the Government Palace, the Cathedral, the Archbishop's Palace, the City Hall and the church and cloister of San Francisco, a UNESCO world cultural heritage site. The tour continues to the modern residential district of San Isidro and bustling, trendy Miraflores. Afterwards, transfer to your hotel. (B)
Day 12 - LIMA I PARACAS I NAZCA LINES
Early transfer to the bus station to board your bus to Paracas. Upon arrival in Paracas, reception and private transfer to your hotel. Next we head to the local airport for the flight over the Nazca lines. Enjoy your bird’s eye view over 280 square kilometers framing enormous outlines of stylized plants and animals in a sprawling labyrinth of straight lines, trapezoids, triangles, and spirals scattered on the desert floor, a fantastic artistic achievement that has remained undisturbed for 2000 years. Day13 - PARACAS I LIMA TO USA (OR EXTEND YOUR STAY)
Pick up at your hotel and transfer to the pier to board a boat to the Ballestas Islands, about 2 hours away. Situated off the coast of the Paracas Reserve, the Ballestas are Peru's largest coastal wildlife sanctuary, home to thousands of resident migratory sea birds. Here you find pelicans, boobies, cormorants and gulls among others, sharing their habitat with colonies of sea lions. This afternoon, private transfer to bus station to board your bus back to Lima. Arrival in Lima, private transfer to the airport to board your international flight. (B)
